His empowering and yet down-to-earth presentation was as entertaining as it was educational and practical.
His driver offered me a lift to the event and we had great fun and adventure getting there, right on time. When I approached him in amazement and shared my strange story, he invited me to eat with his companions. Yes, I went to the “wrong” place to meet Dan Millman, and there he was! As I put the phone down to contemplate things, I looked up at the people in line, and saw–Dan Millman! I sat for a moment and considered the options, and called another friend, who could not come. “Good luck with that,” she said, humorously, as we hung-up. I would need to call the bus company and see how and if I could get there in time.
Looking down at my full plate of delicious food, and then my watch, it seemed there was enough time to finish and get to where I should be. Then she told me I am in the wrong place. “Oh well, I’m going to go anyway and see if I can get in, or maybe even speak with him, if only briefly, I said. Arriving in plenty of extra time, I decided to have dinner at a restaurant, and called a friend who had been waiting to hear back from me.Īs I told her my plans and shared that I didn’t know what time it started, she looked up the ad in the Tone magazine which she just happened to have, and informed me I was supposed to have called ahead for the ticket. Yesterday I went to my massage and chiropractor appointments (due to having been in a car accident last April), and headed from there to where Dan Millman, author of Way of the Peaceful Warrior, would be giving a presentation. Later the army came but could not conscript his son due to the broken leg, and again the neighbors congratulated him on his good fortune, and again he replied… “We’ll see”… And again the old man replied, “We’ll see.” Again the neighbors switched to how bad and unlucky that was. Then the old man’s son started training the horse for riding, but he was thrown and broke his leg. The old man’s reply? “We’ll see.”Īs the story goes, the horse came back with another wild horse, and the neighbors quickly switched to remarking how good and lucky that was! The old man’s reply? “We’ll see.” Something that those on the martial art path started the day training began.I love the old zen story about the farmer who’s neighbors thought it was a bad, unlucky thing that his horse ran away. This is an awakening of Body, Mind and Spirit. Those who have followed the path of Budo, the Way of the Peaceful Warrior are at the leading edge of the Great Awakening. So, no I do not consent! And calling me names is pathetic, but funny. My favorite saying today from these liars is "trust the science." Show me some and perhaps we can talk.
Lie to me once, and the relationship of trust is gone forever. And I see a majority of adults giving up their personal power trusting in those who have lied countless times to them. I watch closely what is going on in the world. Adults especially need martial art training today. And in the dying western culture this is needed more than any time in history. This leads to clear thinking, giving the student of the martial arts the ability to think critically. And when we have conquered the mind, through the body, we can create a better life for ourselves and out family. This then develops the MIND, enables one to take control of our thought. It is about conquering the body, developing it to a precision tool that obeys your will. It is not about winning a fight or contest. The path of the warrior is a special path. It filled in many of the holes, answered many of the questions I had about the path. I read Way of the Peaceful Warrior, and honestly it was life changing for me. He, as a thank you sent me several of his books. I had written a self defense book with the same title, and he wrote me to ask if I would consider changing the name to end possible confusion between the 2 books. Also, interesting when I named the school I was unaware there was a New York Times best selling book by a man named Dan Millman called Way of the Peaceful Warrior. This path has changed my life, and I refer to the path of Budo. The name of the article, Way of the Peaceful Warrior, is for a reason. But, we brought the same philosophy to the teaching of children. However I soon learned, especially due to the demographics of the area, that teaching children was the only way I could succeed.
